Why do you NEED to blog about your business?

Blogging gets traffic to your website...for FREE!

You're posting on social media but spend a lot of time wondering about what to post. You want to direct traffic to your website but how do you do it without sounding too salesy? How do you get GOOD traffic and get people to share your posts? How do you start that all important sales funnel? You give them the content they want.

When some businesses think of blogging (particularly the more corporate ones), they often see it as another way to market their brand and spread the word. This is true of course, but if you're blogging, you need to be offering your readers content to suit THEM, not YOU.

One phrase Chris often uses when talking about social media is that you need to avoid 'weeing' all over your customers. Don't tell them all about how amazing 'we' (you and your business) are. No one wants to read about that sort of thing; they want to read about what will benefit them and their business; they are on social media to be entertained and to learn.

One of our favourite ways of thinking about social media is that you need to fulfil the four Es: Educate, Entertain, Entice, Engage. Mix up your postings and your blogs to include the four Es and it will help you retain your audience. This isn't just WORDS: this post was a link to a blog.

Once you've started blogging, use your social media platforms to promote what you've written and direct people back to your website.
